Continuum of Care
Young adults have unique needs in the process of recognizing and addressing addiction. Shadow Mountain Recovery’s treatment continuum is specifically designed to meet the needs of young adults and their families in this crucial life-stage. We offer a protected and progressive treatment environment meeting the needs for structured learning and stimulating recreation.
Primary treatment services are varied and individualized to match a young man’s needs in terms of energy, within the process of understanding the complexity of addiction at this life-stage. Our services include intensive therapy, brief therapeutic wilderness experiences and varied clinical services within a strong culture of authentic relationship and Twelve Step recovery. The progress of primary treatment is assessed weekly to identify readiness to proceed into next level- extended care.
The transition into extended-care is managed on the same property within fixed treatment relationships and an established connection to the local community. The focus within the extended care aspect of the program shifts from discovery and skill introduction toward application and skill development. The extended care experience includes practical life-skills like; budgeting, meal planning and establishing routine household chores. There are weekly learning experiences related to cooking and meal planning, music and recording, woodworking and basic carpentry activities along with property maintenance. Attendance and immersion in the Twelve Step community and establishment of key relationships is a priority along with daily practical Twelve Step application. We teach self-advocacy and partnering in health-care relationships as another area of practical focus, within the structure for successful outcomes. Learning to live sober is the foundation for sustainable achievement in education, vocational and internship pursuits. The skill-building curriculum at Shadow Mountain Recovery is a progressive- inclusive treatment model and includes the family as part of the recovery development.
Young adults in early recovery benefit from intentional reintroduction of the social and recreational activities they enjoy. This is especially true since young adults with addiction have had significant socialization around the use and availability of substances. Our program helps young men prepare for "trigger experiences" while navigating the process of reintroduction and desensitization until activities stand apart from association with drug and or alcohol use. Our frequent and varied recreational activities serve to stimulate and reintroduce healthy outlets for leisure-time and socialization needs.
Shadow Mountain Recovery offers a deliberate, progressive and relevant treatment experience for families coping with young-adult addiction. We “get it”... Life is in session!
