Wilderness Treatment: A Teen Rehab

Wilderness Treatment: Getting In Touch With Yourself Through Nature

A wilderness treatment might seem to some like a kid vacation when it’s not. The thing is you are not rewarding your child who has a drug or alcohol problem by sending them to a beautiful teen rehab where they get to play outdoors, play music and draw interesting paintings. You are saving your child from destruction. A wilderness program will still do all the hard work necessary to ensure that your child no longer uses drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism and they will do this by getting them interested in other things.

Teen Rehab: Feeling Normal Among Your Peers

Sometimes kids just do not feel at home in middle school or high school among their peers. They feel like outcasts. Whoever they are/ were in elementary school seems to have followed them into high school. They don’t want to be the dorky nerd that no one likes or who gets picked on in school therefore they decide to start hanging out with a bad crowd just to change their reputation. They usually find out during teen rehab that the other teens there have had similar stories and therefore feel at home for the first time in their lives.

Wilderness Therapy Program: Talking About What’s Really Bothering You

Talking about what’s really bothering you during a wilderness therapy program therapy session can open up stories and feelings that a teen didn’t even know they had. Sometimes we spend so much time running from the truth that we don’t even know what the truth is anymore. We’ve suppressed it for so long that they don’t even know what it is anymore. Then they are walking around with this thing, this weight and it’s not until they get to talking that they realize what’s at the root of the problem.
