Dual Diagnosis Treatment Centers: The Reward Of Dual Diagnosis Facilities

An Adolescent Treatment Center

Most people that do know about rehab don’t know about a dual diagnosis treatment centers program. That’s because most people don’t know about dual diagnosis. They don’t know that alcohol and drugs and rehab can go hand in hand. An addict who goes to rehab and doesn’t go to one of the dual diagnosis facilities will most likely not learn the root of their alcohol or drug problem. They will most likely relapse as a result because they weren’t treated for the whole problem and only part of the problem.

At an adolescent treatment center an addict that suffers from drugs and alcohol undergoes a medical and psychological evaluation. If they are diagnosed with depression, panic disorders, bipolar disorder, manic depression disorder they will be treated for their illness and not just for their drug or alcohol abuse problem. The chances of them relapsing are so much smaller as a result.

Hard Work Does Pay Off

When an addict works really hard at rehab and then relapses when they leave it can do a number on their self-esteem. They’ll blame the rehab. They’ll blame themselves there will be a lot of blame going on. A great way to make sure that doesn’t happen is if as a parent you suspect more than just drugs and alcohol look into a dual facility and see if you can’t get your son or daughter to be evaluated before picking a different rehab for your son or daughter to go to.

You might as a parent worry that if your child is diagnosed as mentally ill that they are going to have this label attached to them for all of their life and that it’s going to interfere with their job and their personal relationships. It’s not a life sentence. Just because they have to take medication doesn’t mean the world needs to know.
