Drug Abuse Rehab: Knowing When It’s Time To Send Your Child For Help

Not every parent is an expert on drug addiction. In fact, most parents aren’t.  They don’t have the first clue how to do with their child drug problem. Some parents don’t even know their child has a problem and either feel completely helpless when their friend or family member tells them that their child is using or they feel like an idiot for not seeing the signs. You may think you are losing your mind at considering sending your child to a drug abuse rehab but you are not equipped to take on such a large problem.

Drug Addiction Recovery: The Work Continues Post Rehab

Drug addiction recovery doesn’t just happen in rehab. A lot of times parents and friends send their child or loved on to rehab and think because they were able to abstain from drugs and alcohol for thirty days that they will be able to continue to abstain from it post rehab. That’s not the case. Usually, the hard work starts when the addict goes back to real life. They have to make some tough decisions. Sometimes they have to decide whether or not to keep the same friends they had before rehab. Now they are sober and friendless because they had to cut ties with all their old friends. That can be hard on a teenager that isn’t an addict.
